Week 5

This week I'm looking at different shutter speeds, I will use many different styles to do this. Im hoping to display movement and time within in the images I shoot. I will shoot both day and night, to show different effects you can create.

Above is an image I shot using a Nikon D40 and a tripod on a bridge above the river in my gran's garden. I used a 4 second exposure to create the 'misty' effect on the water fall. I then used the iphoto application on her Mac computer to crop, and increase the saturation of the image. This then enhanced the vibrant greens in the for foliage which surrounds her garden.

Above is a 5 second exposure of the sea at my local beach Gylly.. It was taken at around 8 o'clock at night... this meant there was low light stopping my picture from over exposing due to the duration of the exposure. I particually like the effect long exposures give on liquid movement, it gives a 'painted' effect to the image, as the water 'smooths' out and creates a soft texture. This was shot on a Nikon D40, using a tripod, the image isnt as sharp as I had hoped, due to gale force wind giving camera shake. This photography is similar to that of Andrew Ray, they both show long exposures on a water landscape seen, and are both shot in cornwall.

Above is taken from a lay-by oppisite Asda in Penryn, it is the light of a car driving on the Bi-Pass, and a two second exposure. I had to use shorter exposures for this, one because I wasn't using a Tripod, aswell as the lights from the supermarket exposing my image.

This image was shot a few hundred yards down the road, this was well away from any bulidings and lighting. This allowed me to get a much darker backround, showing more black. There was two cars in this image, as you can see the red like.. is the back of the car, whereas the white is the front of the other.

This is a link to the Beach, shot in a normal shutterspeed.. it displays the difference in the sea. As my image was shot on a very windy and rough day, the sea was hitting the wall, and large waves were present. Due to the long exposure this has given a misty effect.
