Week 6

This week I will be using film. I am shooting using a basic disposable camera, brought and processed at Jessops. I have choose to do this to try and create a 'vintage' feel to my images. I will scan in negitives..& final images and post produce on Photoshop to create different effects and edits.

This is most deffinately not the best disposable camera available on the market, however, I am interested in seeing the result of the images and the comparaision to those shot on digital.

The image above was shot on the busy shopping centre of Truro Piazza, although the area is very modern and well kept, I didnt really understand why there was such a random cuboard there. The image is ruined as you can see a person walking behind the wall, however I like the vintage and 'old' feel created using the film. Here is a link to show the Piazza in a full view. Truro Piazza

This is the subway under the bi-pass out of Truro, there is often buskers under here and it is really dark and cold. I like how there are numerous directional lines, and perspective created through the tunnel. All the lines lead into the focal point of the image, and I like how you can still see the shillouette of the public walking through. I think this image would work really well in black and white, as it has a good range of colours. This image is very similar to that by Iain Hutchinson, however his image has been shot from inside of the tunnel, it using the same princaple of leading lines as mine does, and is also shot in black & white, much like I would like mine to be. Hutchinsons image has a good contrast between darks & lights, for example the lights in the roof, contrasting to the brick of the structure. Hutchinsons Image - Brinnington Tunnel

This image was shot on a bus on the way to Truro through the window, I shot it very fast as both myself and the subject was moving, therefore I have sadly got part of my finger over the lense. There is alot of noise within this image, but I feel it works well. The image overall has an aged feel, the gentlemen in the car looks very well dressed, but traditional and old. This car was infact a hurse, that I took attention to, as the coffin was wrapped in a very bright Union Jack flag.

This is a lane by my house, that I have to walk down almost every day. It runs next to a primary school and is covered in graffiti, I really dislike walking down it. However I really enjoy photographing it. I love how the shadow has split my image in half, it has used sharp strong lines to divide the image vertically. There is quite a contrast between the brightness of each side, coninsadentilly, the bright side, it the school, a positive energy whereas the right side, in the shadow is an old wall covered in graffiti, more negitive.

This image was pretty much accidental, I was on my way to process my film, when I realised I still had a few shots left, therefore I wasted them, taking little time to think about my image. I am unsure on the composition, the main part of the image the basket is in the centre, I feel to mak this a more attractive image it should have been to the left or right. This image is also very dark, but I have tried to keep the simplisicty of the camera and not use any post-production. However, if I was going to id use dodging and burning to create a more even tonal range across this image.
